What PonteDisk does

It opens the photos and files that already live on the disk at your home — a NAS, a shared folder on a PC, or a disk plugged into your router. The files stay on the disk. You look at them, and you copy one to your phone only when you want to.

It connects over SMB (also called Samba or "Windows sharing"), FTP and FTPS, and WebDAV including Nextcloud.

The app cannot find my disk

1. Check the disk, or the router it is plugged into, is switched on.
2. Check your iPhone or iPad is on your home Wi-Fi, not on mobile data.
3. The first time, iOS asks permission to look at the local network. If you said no, turn it back on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › PonteDisk.
4. If it still does not appear, tap I can't see my disk and type the address yourself. You will find it in your router's or NAS's settings — it usually looks like 192.168.1.1.

It says the username or password is wrong

On many routers and NAS boxes the username is admin, and the password is the one set on the device's own configuration page — not your Wi-Fi password and not your Apple Account. If you never changed it, it is often admin as well, or empty.

It asks for a "shared folder" and I don't know what to put

That is the part of the disk your device offers to the network. On routers with a USB socket it is often called volume1, share or public. The exact name is on the file-sharing page of your router or NAS.

I can't see my photos

At the top there are two buttons, Photos and All. Photos shows only pictures and videos from the folder you are in; All shows everything. If the folder looks empty, open one of the folders shown, since photos are usually inside one.

Making the text bigger

PonteDisk follows the text size set on your device, in Settings › Display & Brightness › Text Size. You can also switch between a light and a dark background in the app's own Settings, under "Which is easier to read".

Does it change anything on my disk?

Only when you ask it to. Opening and viewing never modifies a file. Renaming, moving and deleting always ask you to confirm first, and name the file they are about to act on.

Che cosa fa PonteDisk

Apre le foto e i file che stanno già sul disco di casa tua: un NAS, una cartella condivisa del PC, o un disco attaccato al router. I file restano sul disco. Tu li guardi, e ne copi uno sul telefono solo se vuoi.

L'app non trova il mio disco

1. Controlla che il disco, o il router a cui è attaccato, sia acceso.
2. Controlla che l'iPhone o l'iPad siano sul Wi-Fi di casa, non sulla rete del telefono.
3. La prima volta iOS chiede il permesso di guardare nella rete locale. Se hai risposto di no, riattivalo in Impostazioni › Privacy e sicurezza › Rete locale › PonteDisk.
4. Se ancora non compare, tocca Non vedo il mio disco e scrivi l'indirizzo a mano. Lo trovi nelle impostazioni del router o del NAS: di solito somiglia a 192.168.1.1.

Dice che nome utente o password non vanno bene

Su molti router e NAS il nome utente è admin, e la password è quella impostata nella pagina di configurazione dell'apparecchio: non è la password del Wi-Fi e non è quella dell'Account Apple. Se non l'hai mai cambiata, spesso è admin anche quella, oppure è vuota.

Mi chiede la «cartella condivisa» e non so cosa scrivere

È la parte del disco che l'apparecchio mette a disposizione della rete. Sui router con presa USB si chiama spesso volume1, share o public. Il nome esatto è scritto nella pagina di condivisione file del router o del NAS.

Non vedo le mie foto

In alto ci sono due pulsanti, Foto e Tutto. Foto mostra solo le immagini e i video della cartella in cui ti trovi; Tutto mostra ogni cosa. Se la cartella sembra vuota, apri una delle cartelle che vedi: le foto di solito stanno dentro una di quelle.

Scrivere più grande

PonteDisk segue la dimensione del testo impostata sul dispositivo, in Impostazioni › Schermo e luminosità › Dimensioni testo. Puoi anche scegliere lo sfondo chiaro o scuro dalle Impostazioni dell'app, alla voce «Come si legge meglio».

Modifica qualcosa sul mio disco?

Solo se glielo chiedi tu. Aprire e guardare non modifica mai un file. Cambiare nome, spostare ed eliminare chiedono sempre conferma prima, e dicono su quale file stanno per agire.
